ℹ️ A new scoring system applies from 18 May 2026.
You use the new scoring system if:
- Your organization started after 18 May 2026.
- Your new season started after 18 May 2026.
If you do not know which scoring system your organization uses, contact your admin.
There are two score systems:
- Season score
- Personal XP
They run at the same time, but they serve different purposes.
Season score sets your leaderboard position
Your season score determines your position on the leaderboard.
It resets at the start of every new season. This gives everyone an equal chance to compete.
Each cycle, a new slot set becomes available. A slot set contains two challenges that you can complete to earn XP.
Each slot set has a maximum of 1,000 XP available.
Your season score has four parts:
- Loyalty XP: 60% of your season score. You earn this by completing challenges on-time.
- XP: 40% of your season score. You earn this based on how well you answer questions.
- Bonus Loyalty XP: a small extra amount added to your Loyalty XP. Your reputation score determines this bonus. The maximum bonus is +5%.
-
Bonus XP: a small extra amount added to your XP. Your reputation score determines this bonus. The maximum bonus is +2%.
Completing challenges on-time matters most
Each slot set has a slot window. This is the period when you can earn full Loyalty XP.
For a weekly group, the slot window lasts one week. A new slot set becomes available every Tuesday at 09:00 CET.
There are three participation statuses:
- On-time: you completed the slot set within the slot window. You earn full Loyalty XP and full XP.
- Late: you completed the slot set after the slot window, but before the season ends. You earn 80% of Loyalty XP and full XP.
- Missed: you did not complete the slot set before the season ends. You earn 0 season XP.
Loyalty XP makes up 60% of your season score. This makes timing the biggest factor in where you rank.
Even a perfect XP score cannot fully make up for completing challenges late.
Reputation adds bonus XP
Your reputation score is a percentage between 0% and 100%.
It reflects how consistently you answer safely and correctly over time. All new users start at 50% reputation.
Your reputation determines how much Bonus Loyalty XP and Bonus XP you earn each cycle.
At 80% reputation, you earn 80% of the maximum bonus. This means:
- 4% extra on your Loyalty XP
- 1.6% extra on your XP
The bonuses are small, but they can decide who wins a season.
See [Understanding your reputation score] for more.
Example score calculation
This example uses:
- Weekly cadence
- 1,000 XP available per slot set
- 80% reputation score
- On-time completion
- 4 out of 5 questions answered correctly
| Component | Calculation | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Loyalty XP | 600 × 100% | 600 XP |
| Bonus Loyalty XP | 600 × 5% × 80% | 24 XP |
| XP | 400 × 80% | 320 XP |
| Bonus XP | 400 × 2% × 80% | 6 XP |
| Season score for this slot | 950 XP |
Your total season score is the sum of all slot scores across the full season.
ℹ️ Two people with the same number of correct answers can still receive different XP scores. Harder questions count slightly more than easier questions.
Personal XP tracks your all-time progress
Personal XP is your all-time score.
It grows every time you complete a challenge. This includes challenges you complete on-time, late, or after the season has ended.
Personal XP never resets. It affects your personal level, badges, and milestones.
Your streak also belongs to your personal progress. It tracks how consistently you complete challenges over time. Your streak does not affect your leaderboard position.
Personal XP does not affect your leaderboard position.
See [Understanding your personal progress score] for more.
Group score shows group performance
Your group score shows how your group performed as a whole.
The group score uses this calculation:
Total XP earned ÷ total XP possible
XP possible only counts slots where a member was active or invited. This means late joiners and paused users do not unfairly lower the group score.
Members who are invited but never play do lower the group score. Their XP possible grows each slot, while their XP earned stays at zero.
See [Understanding your group score] for more.
Challenge frequency changes available XP
Your admin sets the cadence for your group.
Your group can receive challenges:
- Weekly
- Every 2 weeks
- Every 3 weeks
- Every 4 weeks
The maximum XP available per slot set increases when your group has a longer challenge frequency.
For example:
- A weekly group has 1,000 XP available per slot set.
- A 2-week group has 2,000 XP available per slot set.
- A 4-week group has 4,000 XP available per slot set.
The total XP available per slot set scales with your cadence. This gives all groups an equal opportunity, no matter their challenge frequency.
