Guardey’s scoring system is designed to reward consistency, encourage participation, and boost motivation through healthy competition. With multiple types of scores and incentives like streaks and reputation, users stay engaged week after week, and admins can track meaningful progress across the organization.
Score types in Guardey
There are several ways users earn points in Guardey. These points are used in different leaderboard views and are essential to measuring participation and engagement.
XP (Experience Points)
Earned by answering questions during weekly challenges. XP reflects a user's overall participation and learning activity.
- Answering harder questions earns more XP.
- Getting questions wrong may result in XP loss.
- Most bonus challenges only grant XP, there are no penalties for incorrect answers.
Loyalty XP
Awarded for consistency. The longer you maintain your weekly challenge streak, the more Loyalty XP you earn.
- Skipping a week breaks the streak and stops Loyalty XP accumulation.
- Helps track long-term engagement.
Seasonal XP
Seasonal XP is the sum of XP and Loyalty XP earned during the current season.
- Seasonal XP is used in seasonal leaderboards.
- Resets at the start of each new season.
- Creates a level playing field for all users, including new joiners.
Reputation Score
Every user starts with a 10% reputation score, which acts as a multiplier for earned XP.
- A 40% reputation gives 1.4x the XP.
- An 80% reputation gives 1.8x the XP.
- Reputation increases with correct answers, especially on important topics like data breaches.
- Incorrect answers (especially on critical topics) reduce your reputation.
Streaks
Users build streaks by completing one challenge per week without skipping.
- Streaks increase your Loyalty XP.
- Streak progress is visible on your dashboard.
- Break a streak, and you’ll need to start over.
Phishing XP (coming soon)
Users will earn points for correctly identifying phishing simulations.
- The harder the simulation, the more points you can earn.
- This incentivizes vigilance and builds real-world awareness.
How points are calculated
Guardey uses smart scoring logic to reward accuracy and consistency:
- Harder questions earn more XP and have smaller penalties for incorrect answers.
- Easier questions may offer fewer XP but have higher penalties when answered incorrectly.
