With seasonal leaderboards, your organization can create fairer, more engaging competition by resetting the leaderboard at regular intervals. Everyone gets a fresh start each season, whether they’re new or have been training with Guardey for a while.
What are seasonal leaderboards?
Seasonal leaderboards define a fixed time period (e.g. every 3 or 6 months) during which users and teams compete to earn the most XP. At the end of each season, the leaderboard resets automatically, and the winners are announced.
This makes the competition:
- Fairer for new joiners
- More motivating throughout the year
- Easier to celebrate success and improvement
A countdown timer shows exactly when the current season ends. Once a new season begins, all users start from the same point again.
What resets (and what doesn’t)
At the end of a season:
- XP’s resets to zero for all users
- Winners are announced on the leaderboard page
- Past scores are archived, so you can always look back at previous seasons
- Lifetime XP remains available, as part of long-term performance tracking for the admins in the admin portal
ℹ️ Reporting is not affected by seasonal resets. Historical participation data remains visible in the admin dashboard.

How to use seasonal leaderboards
Seasonal leaderboards are enabled by default. If you prefer not to reset scores at regular intervals, you can disable this setting at any time.
To configure seasonal leaderboards:
- Go to “My organization” in the admin portal.
- Click Settings.
- Open the Game tab.
- Scroll to the Season leaderboards section.
- Choose a reset frequency (every 3 or 6 months).
- Set the season end date using the calendar.
ℹ️ Seasonal leaderboard is enabled by default, it is possible to disable the seasons. That way it will not be reset in any period.
How winners are selected
Admins can also choose how the leaderboard is ranked, for example, by XP, Loyalty XP, or Seasonal XP, depending on what they value most.
What users will see
On the Leaderboard page, users will see:
- A banner with the previous season’s winners
- A timer showing when the current season ends
- Leaderboard rankings in four views:
- How the users are doing in the organization
- How the users are doing in their groups
- Groups vs. groups
- Worldwide (not seasonal)
They’ll also be notified:
- One week before the season ends
- On the last day, when winners are announced
Pro tip for admins
Use the season reset as a moment to celebrate! Highlight your winners in your newsletter or internal channels, give a small reward, or even organize a team lunch. Recognizing progress helps build long-term engagement and security culture.
